She Who Stands Between

This series was created on the shore — in more ways than one. The woman at the center of these portraits has come to an edge in her life, a moment where a choice must be made. She has walked through pain, loss, illness, and separation — the kinds of things so many women quietly endure, often unnoticed. But Victoria had the chance to pause at this threshold, and together we captured it through the lens. Her uncertainty, her fragility, and at the same time her strength — the complexity of her decision, and the wings that seem to rise behind her in the final portrait — these are what I saw as she moved between land and sea. The wings, formed only by the blur of her movement, appeared by chance. And yet they seem to confirm that her name — Victoria, meaning «victory» — truly belongs to her. Apart from the use of long exposure, there is no retouching. Every line of motion emerged by chance, impossible to plan, impossible to foresee. For me, that matters deeply. I am simply a witness, someone who had the chance to see and hold this moment still.
